A man has been taken into custody after a disturbance on the Orkney island of Hoy which led to an evacuation.
Northern Constabulary responded to an incident in Longhope shortly after midnight.
About 30 members of the public were moved to a local hotel in what the force described as a precautionary measure.
A 40-year old man was later taken into custody in connection with the incident.
A police cordon was put in place around one of the houses in the community while police carried out investigations.
Police said residents of a neighbouring house would remain in temporary accommodation overnight, but the rest of Longhope's community had returned to their homes.
