Traffic delays amid Aberdeen Christmas shopping rush

Christmas shoppers caused "extreme" traffic congestion and major tailbacks in Aberdeen, police said.

Traffic formed long queues during drivers' efforts to get in to city centre car parks.

Vehicles on Berry Street tailed as far back as Gallowgate, and traffic on Harriet Street was tailed back to Schoolhill and Union Terrace.

Grampian Police said major Union Square car park was full during the busiest spell.
