Sharleen Spiteri and Dawn Steele will star in Between Weathers

Singer Sharleen Spiteri and actress Dawn Steele are to star in a movie being made in Shetland, it has been announced.

Aberdeen-based director Jim Brown is producing Between Weathers.

Texas star Sharleen Spiteri has landed a leading role as the sister of Monarch of the Glen and Wild at Heart star Dawn Steele.

Mr Brown said: "It's a major coup for us to have them as the female leads in Between Weathers."

He explained: "I'm so excited at the prospect of working with them.

"I think the public will be captivated by their on screen chemistry."

Between Weathers is described as a modern-day David and Goliath story on Shetland.

Carol McGregor, Scottish Hollywood star Ewan McGregor's mother, was recently named as an executive producer for Between Weathers.
