The winter weather has caused more serious disruption for scores of schools in Aberdeenshire, Moray and Orkney.

More than 100 schools in Aberdeenshire are closed, as well as 28 in Moray and 16 in Orkney.

In Aberdeen, many were opening late to give parents more chance to get their children to classes.

Aberdeen Airport is open for business, after facing a weekend of disruption to flights.

The weather is continuing to cause problems for offshore oil and gas industry helicopter flights.

And Grampian Police urged drivers to think long and hard about whether they needed to travel at all.

Meanwhile, supplies of heating oil for homeowners running low have arrived by boat at Aberdeen harbour.

The first of the snow arrived in the north east on 24 November and has caused serious problems since.
