Grampian firefighters have arrived in Christchurch to join the rescue effort after the New Zealand earthquake.

Dozens of bodies have been found and many more people are missing, feared trapped or dead.

The team was alerted by the UK government following an official request for help from New Zealand.

They are immunized, trained and equipped to respond at short notice to incidents abroad. They are working on a collapsed insurance building.

The team is part of the UK International Search and Rescue outfit dispatched to the disaster zone.
