More than £10,000 in cash has been stolen during an armed robbery at a Tesco store in Aberdeen.

Police said three men armed with a bladed weapon entered the Tesco Express shop on the city's Great Western Road at about 22:45 on Sunday.

They demand cash and fled with a five figure sum. No-one was injured but staff were said to have been left badly shaken.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Det Insp Norman Stevenson said: "I want to offer our assurance to the community that the force is committed to identifying those responsible and to bringing them to justice.

"We are appealing to the local community for their help in identifying those responsible."

The three men were described as being in their late teens or early 20s and were wearing dark coloured clothing including hooded tops.
