Former Aberdeen City Council leader John Stewart has announced he will not stand for re-election next year.

The Lib Dem councillor stepped down from the job earlier in the year after the SNP became the biggest party on the authority.

Mr Stewart is currently the authority's deputy leader.

He said the reason he was leaving politics was not because he feared he could lose his council seat, but rather it was a personal decision.
