Girl 'serious' after being hit by van in Aberdeen

An 11-year-old girl was seriously injured after being struck by a van in Aberdeen.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Balnagask Road, Torry, at about 18:00 on Thursday.

The girl was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and was later transferred to Edinburgh for treatment.

A spokesman for Grampian Police said the road was closed for several hours while accident investigators examined the scene.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
