A serial rapist has been given a lifelong restriction order for attacking women across Scotland.

Chan Wright, 40, was convicted last year of raping women in a series of assaults in Edinburgh, West Lothian, Angus and Aberdeenshire over a 15-year period.

Wright, from Jamaica, will serve at least six years in prison before he can be considered for release.

Judge Lord Kinclaven passed sentence at the High Court in Glasgow.

The restriction means that Wright will not be released until he is deemed to no longer pose a risk to the public.

'Risk to women'

Lord Kinclaven told Wright: "It is my opinion if at liberty you present a high risk to the public of violence and sexual violence.

"You are a risk to women."

Lord Kinclaven recommended that Wright be deported after he has served his sentence.

Wright, who has previously served four years for raping a teenager in Livingston in 1995, continues to deny the charges.
