Major blaze hits fish merchants at Sandend in Aberdeenshire

Almost 30 firefighters were involved in tackling a major blaze at an Aberdeenshire fish merchant in the early hours.

The fire at J Smith in Sandend, near Portsoy, broke out at about 01:00.

Four pumps and a water carrier were needed to bring the flames under control, and crews spent the night at the scene.

A joint police and fire brigade investigation will be carried out into the cause of the fire later today.
