Aberdeen City Council's Marischal College headquarters have been closed down after overnight flooding, the local authority has said.

Staff were advised to work from home or from alternative locations, where possible, after the incident at about 05:00.

A water pipe burst, and the electricity supply was cut off as a precaution.

A council spokesperson said the customer service centre was expected to reopen for urgent enquiries at 12:30.

The new headquarters at the renovated Marischal College, which house about 1,300 staff, opened to the public in June last year.

The granite landmark building was extensively refurbished as part of a three-year £65m project.
