Probe into '£70,000 theft' from Aberdeen Trades Council

Police are investigating allegations that tens of thousands of pounds were stolen from a trades union organisation in Aberdeen.

The inquiry centres on funds put into the Trades Union Club, which shut its doors last month. It was based in The Adelphi, off Union Street.

Grampian Police said it had received a complaint from Aberdeen Trades Council about the theft of about £70,000.

A force spokesperson said the inquiry was at an early stage.
