Driver seriously injured in crash with lamppost in Aberdeen

A man has suffered serious head injuries after the car he was driving hit a lamppost in Aberdeen.

The incident happened at 01:40 on Sunday morning on Deeside Road near the junction with Pitfodels Station Road.

The male driver, who was the only occupant, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he remains in a serious condition, Grampian Police said.

Police officers carried out investigations at the scene and the road remained closed for several hours.
