Grampian Police in safety plea to motorcyclists
Motorcyclists in Grampian have been urged to take extra care after "disappointing" accident figures.
Grampian Police said there had been 12 serious collisions in September this year, compared with eight last year.
There have now been 72 serious collisions involving motorcycles this year up until the end of September, compared with 59 for the whole of 2011.
Transport Scotland and Aberdeen City Council will use road signage boards to display the safety message.
A Transport Scotland spokesman said: "Operation Zenith is doing a hugely important job in helping improve and ensure the safety of motorcyclists in the north east.
"Bikers will now be looking forward to getting the most out of the remaining weeks before the winter weather really kicks in and so there is never a more crucial time for them and other road users to ensure they are clued up on the road safety messages."
