An 85-year-old woman has been airlifted to hospital after her disappearance from an Aberdeenshire care home sparked a major search operation.

Police teams including dog handlers and mountain rescuers, and an RAF helicopter from Lossiemouth, were involved in the operation to find Cecilia Thomson.

She had disappeared from Praesmohr House care home near Aboyne on Sunday.

Police Scotland said she was traced shortly after 06:00 on Monday.

She had suffered a fall, and was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
