Peter McKenzie from Fraserburgh named as A90 crash victim

A man who died following a two-car crash on the A90 has been named.

Peter McKenzie, 42, from the Fraserburgh area, was declared dead at the scene of the collision, which happened near Lonmay at about 18:10 on Tuesday.

The driver of the other car, a 51-year-old man, escaped serious injury.

The road was closed for about eight hours for accident investigators to examine the scene. Police are appealing for witnesses.

The crash involved a southbound silver Mercedes and a northbound blue Peugeot 307.

Sgt David Pirie said: "Our thoughts at this difficult time are with the family and friends of Peter McKenzie.

"The investigation into the circumstances of the collision is at an early stage and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either of the cars before the incident to get in touch."
