Man who raped medical student in Aberdeen jailed

A man who raped a medical student in the garden of a house in Aberdeen has been jailed for two years.

Piotr Buczynski, a 30-year-old butcher from Aberdeen, was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Buczynski assaulted the woman after she asked him to stop while having sex in September last year.

He pleaded guilty to rape following a hearing at the High Court in Aberdeen last month. Sentence had been deferred for reports about his character.

Passing sentence, temporary judge Sean Murphy QC said he had no other option but to send Buczynski to prison.

At the hearing in Aberdeen in August, the court heard how Buczynski met his victim in the early hours of 1 September as she made her way home from a night out in the town.

She had been out with some classmates, but left the group after an argument with her boyfriend.

The student met Buczynski, a stranger to her, and he led her to a nearby garden where they started having sex. She asked him to stop, but he ignored her.

The woman screamed for help and told him what he was doing was rape. He only stopped when a group of four friends, who were walking by, helped her.

When police officers arrived, they found the student covered in blood with torn clothes.
