Ground investigation work as part of plans to tackle the notorious traffic blackspot at Aberdeen's Haudagain roundabout has got under way.

The junction at the bottom of Anderson Drive is a notorious bottleneck.

Transport Minister Keith Brown visited the site and said the work would provide detailed information that was needed to fix the problem.

It is hoped work will be ready to begin in spring 2018, when the Aberdeen bypass is completed.

Mr Brown said: "The Scottish government has repeated many times our commitment to tackling the congestion caused by the traffic bottleneck at Haudagain, and we are determined to see a solution put in place to bring much needed relief to drivers and the nearby communities."
