Stonehaven Hogmanay party with The Human League almost cancelled
A major Hogmanay event in Aberdeenshire being headlined by pop legends The Human League came close to being cancelled, the organisers have admitted.
Ticket sales for Stonehaven's Open Air In The Square have been slower than expected.
The organisers denied the ticket price of £37.50 was too expensive.
Money from volunteers, their relatives and friends guaranteed a deadline to pay bills was met on Monday afternoon.
Folk group The Peatbog Faeries and X Factor contestant Emily Middlemas are among the other acts taking part in the event.
A spokesperson said: "Last year with Simple Minds we sold out in record time but this year it has been a good bit slower."
Organisers said tickets would be on sale until Wednesday night.
"We have been selling tickets all over the UK, but for some unknown reason people in the immediate area have been holding off," added the spokesperson.
The Human League have had a string of top 10 hits including Mirror Man and Fascination.
Their biggest hit, Don't You Want Me, has been adopted by fans of Aberdeen FC to pay tribute to midfielder Peter Pawlett.
