Police officer rape charge found not proven

A police officer has been cleared of raping a woman he said had seduced him.

Andrew Robertson, 49, of Aboyne, went on trial at the High Court of Aberdeen earlier this week.

The jury of eight men and seven women took 45 minutes to find the case against him not proven by a majority verdict.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said a report would be prepared by the professional standards department.

The alleged victim had given evidence through a video link about the incident, which happened in January 2012.
