Tens of thousands of pounds stolen in Aberdeen Loomis raid

Tens of thousands of pounds have been stolen from an Aberdeen security firm.

Police Scotland said a "high five-figure sum" was taken from cash transit and security company Loomis, at Souterhead Road in Altens, on Thursday.

It is thought vehicles - including a blue Mini, a white Land Rover Freelander and a black Hyundai ix35 - were involved.

The Mini was abandoned at the scene, and the other two vehicles were recovered in Wellington Terrace, Cove.

Det Insp Brian Geddes, who is leading the investigation, said: "It is believed that the people responsible may have also used additional vehicles to leave the area following the incident.

"Officers have been checking CCTV and carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who either saw anything suspicious, saw any of the vehicles we've described or any people acting suspiciously in that area, to contact the police."
