Tanker fire closes A90 near Stonehaven

Firefighters have put out a tanker fire which closed a section of the A90 in Aberdeenshire.

Five appliances were called to the scene of the blaze near Stonehaven.

Foam was used by emergency crews to bring the fire under control. The driver of the tanker was taken to hospital for treatment for suspected smoke inhalation.

The northbound carriageway of the A90 was expected to remain closed for some time.

A fire service spokesman said the blaze occurred in the front part of the vehicle, which was transporting more than 37,000 litres of fuel.
