Man jailed after starting Fraserburgh flat fire

A man who started a fire in his Aberdeenshire flat and caused £53,000 of damage has been jailed.

Dale Sivewright, 21, started the fire in Fraserburgh's Barrasgate Road in February this year.

Sivewright - who also uses the surname Stewart - previously admitted wilful fireraising. The blaze took two hours to bring under control.

He was jailed for three years and 10 months at the High Court in Aberdeen by Lord Burns.

Sivewright was the only person in the block at the time of the fire.

Defence solicitor advocate Shahid Latif said the accused had been experiencing personal issues.
