Investigation after firearm discovered in Aberdeen garden

The discovery of a firearm in an Aberdeen garden is being investigated.

Police Scotland said the find was made in a communal area at flats in Great Northern Road on Tuesday evening.

Det Insp Robin Sim, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our enquiries are at an early stage.

"We are trying to establish where the weapon has come from and how it got to where it was found. I would like to stress that at no point has there been any threat to the public."

No more details about the firearm have been released.
