Three charged over death of Gary Clampett in Fraserburgh

Police at the scene

Three people have been charged in connection with the death of a 39-year-old man in Fraserburgh at the weekend.

Gary Clampett is understood to have suffered stab wounds during a "large scale disturbance" in Fernie Place in the early hours of Sunday.

Police Scotland said three local men, aged 31, 39 and 45, have been charged in connection with his death.

They were expected to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court later on Tuesday.

Police and paramedics were called to the incident on Sunday, but Mr Clampett died at the scene.

Det Insp Gary Winter, of the major investigation team, urged anyone with information about what happened to contact police.

He added: "I would like to thank members of the public who have assisted with our investigation so far.

"I would also like to thank the local community for your continued patience.

"Our inquiries are still ongoing and a strong police presence will remain in the area while these are carried out."
