A man who died after being struck by a car in Aberdeen has been named by police.

Michal Podgorski, 30, was hit by a Renault Megane on the A947 between Stoneywood roundabout and Mugiemoss Road at about 00:30.

The road was closed to allow for investigation work, but reopened at about 07:30.

Officers from Police Scotland have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.

Mr Podgorski, who was originally from Poland, lived in the Kincorth area of Aberdeen.

Sgt Rob Warnock said: "First and foremost, our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Michal.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the crash or who may have seen the vehicle or Michal shortly beforehand and who hasn't yet spoken with police to do so to help us piece together exactly what happened."
