Man charged after 37 lambs killed by dogs in Turriff

A man has been charged after 37 lambs were killed by dogs in Aberdeenshire.

A further 28 lambs were injured in the "sheep worrying" incident at a Turriff farm on Friday.

Police Scotland said the farmer killed the two dogs involved to prevent further deaths.

Sgt Caroline Gray said: "The last thing a farmer will want to do is destroy another animal however they are within their right to shoot dogs worrying sheep on their land as a last resort."

Dog owners were urged to keep their animals under control.
