Aberdeen offshore firm Sparrows sees profits take off

Offshore services company Sparrows has seen profits and turnover rise.

The Aberdeen-based lifting and mechanical handling firm reported profits of £20.8m for 2012, up from £17.5m, on turnover of £188m, compared to £172m.

Chief executive officer Doug Sedge said: "We won significant new contracts, as well as renewals and extensions, across all our bases."

He said the first quarter of 2013 had been "extremely robust".
