Orkney-based jewellery firm Ortak - which was bought after going into administration - has officially opened its new workshop in Kirkwall.

The firm went into administration in March last year after getting into financial difficulties.

The new workshop is based at the town's Great Western Road. Many of the staff who worked at the former Hatston site have been kept on.

Ortak was founded in 1967 and grew to 15 branded retail outlets in the UK.

Wholesale customers included household names such as Argos, Amazon and H Samuel.
