Food producer McIntosh of Strathmore has won an £800,000 contract to supply all of Asda's Scottish stores with its new range of macaroni cheese pots.

Launching later this month, the 350g pots will be stocked exclusively by the supermarket chain for a limited period.

Forfar-based McIntosh, which is part of Strathmore Foods, currently sells about 70,000 macaroni meals a week.

It forecasts the new range will boost annual production of macaroni ready meals to 4.4 million.

McIntosh sales manager Neil Macrae said: "This is a very exciting opportunity which will bring our products to a much wider audience, enabling more people to enjoy a taste of Scotland.

"It's fantastic that Asda is supporting our brand and we're really excited about introducing other flavours in due course."
