Mitsubishi to create 100 new jobs at Edinburgh plant
Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi is to invest in an engineering facility in Edinburgh, creating more than 100 new jobs.
The plant will develop a new type of generator for wind turbines.
The announcement was made as Prime Minister David Cameron began an official visit to Japan.
Mr Cameron said Mitsubishi's decision was "a huge boost" to the Scottish economy and a vote of confidence in the UK's research and development sector.
The Edinburgh investment has been put at more than £80m and will lead to the creation of more than 100 new jobs - with more expected in the supply chain.
A spokesman for Mitsubishi in the UK said a number of details still had to be finalised and expressed surprise that the announcement had been made now.
