Walker wounded by Dumfries airgun attack

Police have appealed for witnesses after a man was shot in the leg with an airgun pellet while out walking on a cycle path in Dumfries.

The incident happened at about 1810 BST on Friday near the town's King George V playing fields.

The 28-year-old victim felt a sharp pain in his leg and then realised he had been shot by an airgun.

He was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Infirmary where the pellet was removed and the wound treated.
