Police have warned drivers visiting remote beauty spots in the Scottish Borders to be on their guard against sat nav thieves.

It follows several incidents reported to police in the region since Friday.

A spokesman said most of the items had been taken from vehicles which had been left open with the sat nav on display.

He said it was important to remove expensive items from view particularly as thieves appeared to be targeting remote parking areas.

Thefts have been reported in Galashiels, Hawick and St Boswells in the past few days.

Lothian and Borders Police said drivers should be aware of the risk and take appropriate security measures before leaving their cars.
