A cyclist who died after a collision with a van on a road in the Scottish Borders has been formally identified.

Darren Wight, 36, of Springwood Rise, Kelso, was killed as a result of the accident on the road between Roxburgh and Ormiston on Saturday evening.

The married father-of-one was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment but died later that night.

A celebration of his life will be held at Kelso North Parish Church next week, on a day still to be confirmed.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said the matter was being treated as an accident and there were no charges pending.

He added that a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
