Mr Smart appeared at Kirkcudbright Sheriff Court accused of having obscene videos in his shop
A newsagent has been accused in court of having more than 300 obscene videos and DVDs in his Castle Douglas store.
Ronald Smart, 41, of the town's Abercromby Road, is alleged to have committed the offence at the Barry Smart shop on King Street.
He was also accused of taking, permitting to be taken or making four indecent images of children.
Mr Smart, who denies the charges, was allowed bail at Kirkcudbright Sheriff Court and his case was continued.
It was alleged that between 2005 and 2009 he distributed obscene material from the newsagent's shop.
The charges were brought under the Civic Government Scotland Act of 1982.
