Police have released a CCTV photograph taken in Dumfries on the night a man was knocked down in a hit-and-run.

The 60-year-old man was seriously injured after being hit by a car in St Mary's Street, near Lovers Walk, at about 2350 BST on Monday 6 September.

The CCTV image shows a blue car, believed to be the car involved, which police are keen for information on.

Insp Neil Hewitson, of Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary, said: "This case is very much still being investigated."

He appealed for anyone with information about the car or driver to contact police.

The force previously said it had seized a blue Vauxhall Corsa which was taken from its owner's home.
