Man charged after Melrose head-on crash

A man has been reported to the procurator fiscal following a head-on crash near Melrose on Friday.

Fire crews had to rescue a trapped woman from her vehicle after a collision at about midday on the B6359 at the Bemersyde junction.

She was taken to Borders General Hospital suffering from shock as well as ankle, shoulder and rib injuries.

Lothian and Borders Police said a 45-year-old man had been charged with careless driving.
