Dumfries woman, 82, fights off would-be robbers

An 82-year-old woman has fought off two men who tried to rob her while she was on her way to play bingo in Dumfries.
The incident happened at about 1830 GMT on Sunday on Babbington Avenue in the town.
The men approached the woman, who was walking alone, and tried to grab her handbag and make off.
She hit back and managed to fight off both men who eventually fled from the scene. The woman was unhurt but "obviously shaken" by the incident.
Police have issued descriptions of the two men involved.
One was about 5ft 5in tall, wearing a cream-coloured, beanie hat.
He had a fringe of blond hair showing at the front, was clean shaven, and was dressed in dark clothing.
The second man was wearing a black balaclava and dark clothing and spoke with a slight English accent.
Both men were in their late teens or early 20s.
