Two men are in hospital with serious injuries after being dragged into a slurry clearing machine.

Jimmy Hodge of Lemington Farm near Eyemouth, Berwickshire, and employee Adrian Harrison needed emergency leg surgery after the incident on Tuesday.

One man managed to free himself but the other had to be helped by firefighters.

The men, both aged 55, were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with injuries which were described as serious but not life threatening.

The Health and Safety Executive will launch an investigation into the incident.

It is believed the machine's timer came on when the men were trying to move slurry.
