Five teenage Borders school students have been disciplined over the past 15 months for distributing sexual images.
The incidents involved pupils sending the pictures of either themselves or other youngsters electronically.
Once they were brought to the attention of their secondary schools, action was taken by education officials.
Scottish Borders Council confirmed five students had been disciplined since September 2009 for so-called "sexting" by sending sexually explicit photos.
The authority has not disclosed what disciplinary action has been taken against the teenagers.
The figures were revealed under a Freedom of Information request.
