Berwickshire nursing home record find probe under way
An investigation is under way after confidential records were found in an unlocked stable near a former nursing home in Berwickshire.
A dog walker on the Peelwalls Estate near Ayton discovered the documents.
They included confidential details, bank statements and pension books of the elderly residents of the former Borders Nursing Home.
The files also contained staff wage details and payroll records dating back more than a decade.
The man who found the documents described them as "a goldmine of financial and identity details which could be catastrophic in the wrong hands."
The Information Commissioner's Office said it would be investigating the discovery.
Borders Nursing Home closed in 2008. Its former owner was not available for comment.
