Castle Douglas police station overhaul proposed

A £750,000 refurbishment plan has been drawn up for a Dumfries and Galloway police station.

There are a range of concerns about the Castle Douglas site - particularly over disabled access.

Previous proposals for a £5m redevelopment were shelved in the face of council budget cuts.

Instead, a major overhaul of the existing property is being proposed including the installation of a lift, ramped access and custody area upgrade.

The work is earmarked to be carried out in two stages in a bid to limit any disruption.

Councillors are being asked to approve the project when they meet later this month.
