Peebles farm murder accused in court

A woman accused of murdering an eastern European man whose body was found at a farm has appeared at the high court.

Eliska Novotna, 22, is alleged to have stabbed Arunas Ramanauskas, 39, to death in the Borders last year.

She is charged with repeatedly stabbing him on the body on 7 or 8 October at Easter Happrew Old Farm in Peebles.

She is also accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice. Ms Novotna, who appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh, denies the charges.

She appeared for a brief preliminary hearing before judge Lord Bannatyne.

No trial date was fixed and the hearing was continued until 2 March to allow her legal team time to carry out further inquiries.
