Police have launched an investigation after a man's body was discovered floating in a Scottish Borders river.

They are attempting to identify the male, thought to be in his mid-20s.

The body was found in the Ettrick Water near the Bannerfield housing estate in Selkirk late on Sunday morning by a person out walking.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances at this stage.

An investigation is ongoing and they have asked for anyone with information to come forward.
