Woman killed in A75 accident near Gretna

A woman has been killed in a crash on the A75 road about two miles west of Gretna in Dumfries and Galloway.

The accident was reported by police at about 15:00 and involved a car and a lorry.

A spokesman for Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said the car driver had died and her passenger had been airlifted to hospital for treatment.

The road was closed and traffic diversions were put in place. By 20:50 the road was re-opened.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.

The car involved was a grey Toyota Yaris.
