A museum in the Scottish Borders is reopening after being shut for more than three months to carry out an audit and review of its collection.

Hawick Museum is normally open all year round but has been closed from 24 December until 31 March.

Curator Shona Sinclair said it had given staff and volunteers a chance to "work behind the scenes".

She said more than 500 objects had been catalogued and some "real gems" rediscovered.
