Man's body found in River Tweed

The body of a man in his 40s has been recovered from the River Tweed near St Boswells in the Scottish Borders.

It was spotted at about 11:30 on Thursday and retrieved by Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police confirmed an investigation was under way.

He said the death was being treated as "unexplained" and appealed for anyone with information to "come forward immediately".

The identity of the man is being withheld until next of kin have been informed.
