Newton Stewart tractor crash driver airlifted to hospital

A man has been airlifted to hospital after his tractor was in collision with a van on the A714 between Newton Stewart and Wigtown.

The 40-year-old local farmer was taken to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries.

The road was closed at about 13:00 on Wednesday while police carried out a crash investigation at the scene.

Local diversions were put in place, but drivers have been asked to avoid the area if at all possible.
