Annan housing development thrown out

Councillors have rejected plans for an exclusive housing development on the banks of the River Annan.

The proposals by Kerr Investments for a complex near Violetbank met with opposition from locals.

Planning officials said the homes would fundamentally change the character of the area, and that the site earmarked was at risk of flooding.

Some residents had raised a petition against the plans on the grounds of the impact to the local landscape.
