Tributes have been paid to a pipe band drummer from the Borders who died suddenly while on holiday in Turkey.

Martin Lindsay, 40, from Selkirk, complained of feeling unwell just a few days into a family break in the resort of Marmaris.

He went back to his hotel room but died shortly afterwards.

There are understood to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death on Monday which is believed to have been from natural causes.

Mr Lindsay worked with the Scottish Public Pensions Agency at Tweedbank.

A statement on the Scottish Borders Pipe Band Facebook page expressed its "deepest sympathy" to the long-term member of Stow Pipe Band.

Arrangements are currently being made with the Turkish authorities to fly Mr Lindsay's body back to Scotland.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are aware of the death of a British national in Marmaris, Turkey, on 23 July.

"Staff have been in contact with next of kin and are providing consular assistance."
